Correction of hooded upper eyelids and under-eye bags

Blepharoplasty (correction of hooded upper eyelids and under-eye bags)

Blepharoplasty (from Greek blepharon = eyelid) is the surgical correction of eyelids.

Upper eyelid blepharoplasty is designed to remove excess skin of the eyelid. In some cases, it is also necessary to additionally reduce fatty tissue or change the height of the eyelid crease. This makes your eyes and face look younger and fresher.

Depending on the severity of upper eyelid hooding, blepharoplasty is either performed for purely aesthetic reasons without being medically necessary (cosmetic surgery), or it may be medically indicated if the eyelid overhang interferes with the patient’s vision.

As we grow older, puffy bags may develop below the eyes. Anatomically, the formation of under-eye bags has nothing to do with the lacrimal ducts, but is rather caused by excess lower eyelid skin or by protruding orbital fat due to age-related tissue laxity. In most cases, bagginess is caused by a combination of these two factors.

Lower eyelid blepharoplasty is an option for anyone unhappy with their appearance due to under-eye bagginess. In most cases, blepharoplasty is a cosmetic treatment.

We also offer special Asian eyelid surgery techniques, implementing double eyelid surgery to highlight the individual and unique appearance of the patient’s eyes. Again, this is a purely cosmetic procedure.
